Inspired by the children’s movie Coco, I yielded to creating this large, gentle festive spirit that comes to assist the dead in passing from the real world back to the spiritual one.

Decolonizing death means recognizing it as a natural, shared experience woven into the fabric of life, culture, and community. This perspective challenges Western narratives that isolate death as an individual, somber event, instead honoring it as a moment of connection, remembrance, and the beginning of new life.
